Regarding fic exchanges: NEVER AGAIN. At least not this year. No time, and I think this thing took out every part of me that enjoys writing. I started hating it after the first thousand words, I think that's a record even for me.

But then [livejournal.com profile] reel_johnny does something like this and goddamn it I kind of want to do it. I don't think I will, 'cause that's a VERY BAD IDEA, but it's so tempting dammit! Having a MV in mind already certainly doesn't help. Someone go claim it so I can't! I have other stuff I need to write first, but if I ever feel like I can enjoy writing again, I hope to do something with this concept. It sounds awesome, and the songs/MVs already chosen are a;sgkdlj wonderful, splendid, etc.

So, I'm actually on semi-hatius, though I'm sure no one noticed. :p

But. Pirates! Went and watched Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides a while ago, finally decided to write a few short thoughts down. Wasn't entirely planning on watching it in theaters, but when I decided to, my mom totally called me out on being a fan of the franchise. I hated DMC and AWE was just alright, but CotBP will always be one of my favorite movies ever. And before anyone goes 'girl, you have no taste': I like movies that entertain, yay me.

So...Spoilers! )

It's been a long time since I last updated, and I have so many stuff I want to talk about, but I'm tired. In short (until I actually find the time to rant again): I think I'm turning pedo. SAVE ME.

And lol I almost forgot but wanted to say this: [livejournal.com profile] je_otherworlds started posting and it's been awesome! I skimmed through most of the fics cause I don't have the time to sit down and enjoy reading these days, but even reading a few paragraphs it feels like there's a whole lot of cool stuff people came up with. Will definitely need to check back after finals.

I JUST FINISHED AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. IN THREE DAYS. ALL 61 EPISODES PLUS CHIBI.

...It's got a solid storyline? I'm not in super!fangirl mode like I get sometimes, but it's making me think a lot. One thing I can't over is the title -- the last airbender. No matter how much the characters might be enjoying themselves or how hopeful the ending is, the title's always there to remind me that there's just something extremely tragic about the story.

It's horrifying seeing the empty air temples, knowing that they'll never be filled again. Minor deaths are just scraps in the grand scheme, but an entire culture was destroyed. Aang's entire culture is gone. It's not even real and yet just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

It's funny how the only episode I actually cried is centered around Appa (a huge furry flying animal) though.

On the most parts, it's just an adventure story with a somewhat predictable plot. But it's also been a while since I've seen any decent adventure story that hasn't disappointed me at some point. It's all I could have wanted out of a good cartoon -- a sturdy story that makes me think even with the childish naivety that in turn gives me hope in humankind.

It also doesn't hurt that Aang is the most charming main character I've seen since...um, Yoh from Shaman King, I guess. I have such a huge thing for wise kids. :D My only complaint is that I wanted to see more of Aang (and his air-bending/glider DDD:) in the third season, but I suppose it would feel wrong to take away the other characters' chances to grow some depth. And Zoku's redemption is amusing on its own merits, though it's a plot I've already seen too often.

I think I need a few more days to take it all in. I'm still not sure what to think because I usually let a brainless fangirl squee lead me in fandoms, but it really figures that it's a cartoon that's making me over-thinking everything.

edit: great. I've already lost sleep over this (61 episodes in 3 days...yeah), and now I can't sleep because I'm thinking about it. and it's four in the morning. splendid.

It appears that I forgot to make a fanfic draft of mine private the other day. Oh my god embarassing. I apologize to anyone that had to see that. Hope no one hurt their eyes or something. For some reason, no one complained about it...Was I de-friended?

Yes, I do enjoy het pairings. Haha, the horror? Female characters usually are more fun, even if they do receive random undeserved hate. Still, they get to be around hot guys all day - you know you're just jealous. And they're usually pretty hot themselves. Hee.

There are just some characters that I can't pair with anyone else. Or near-canon pairings that I can't tear apart, even when I can easily do so with others. I don't know why, that's just how things are. Some girls remind me of people I know, or even myself. Some of the guys remind me of real life characters. Other times, they started out as crack pairings and grew on me.

My Het OTPs, a short description of why, and some fangirling. Graphics below. )

The funny thing is, I decided on these pairings usually after a chapter/episode or two. Some took a while longer, but usually as soon as both characters are there. The only pairings that really took some time was Luffy/Robin, because it was a later incident that made me ship them. ♥♥♥

This whole review of the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)" was written for a couple of friends of mine. Turns out nearly no one's heard of this, since this is Asia and we're all a bunch of very Chinese people. Except that I'm typing in English now, but with my dreadful grammar you get how I'm Chinese anyway.

Carrying on.

Not my Jessica. Not pattycake. This is impossible. I don't believe it. It can't be! )
