I now has sticky post and I apologize to everyone I'm spamming. I should probably refrain from using purposely lame grammar because with the usual grammar around with place, people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

So [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets is moving to DreamWidth and while I've spent too much time, effort and actual money to be able to laugh freely, I'm still pointing and laughing because according to LJ's new community ranking thing, it's the second largest community here. It's probably not going to be much longer once all its new comments go on DW, but great job, LJ. You just convinced one of the largest communities around here that your updates are rendering the site useless for them.

And the announcement post has Woopers! With the cutest alternative texts. I have a soft spot for water/ground type Pokemon, although my favorite out of the batch are Mudkips and they're water types until evolved.

Pointing out LJ's failure is the only point of this post. I'm sorry. D: Also [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets is addictive and I don't know how to quit it.

Back at school, last semester of college. Aside from feeling slightly overwhelmed that MY COLLEGE LIFE IS ALMOST OVER, things are pretty normal.

But anyway just wondering, is anyone here??????

It feels like no one uses LJ anymore. I can understand that, it's a sucky website, but I feel lonely. I haven't socialized for the last month and omg I can't remember how to talk to people anymore. I spent my winter vacation staying at home playing Pokemon and sleeping. I have a lot to talk about Pokemon, but I have a feeling I'm going to have even less friends than I already do if I try that.

ANYWAY. Anyone who knows anything about Pokemon (there's a yellow mouse called Pikachu! there, you know something now) should watch this Pokemon Engrish Green Nuzlocke Run. Slightly offensive at times, but I think that's because I've forgotten how offensive guys can normally be when they're not even trying (I think I've forgotten how offensive ALL people can be like). Seriously though, it's EPIC. Of course, you have to have played first gen to properly appreciate all the epicness, and you probably have to know what a Nuzlocke run is (fainted Pokemon are dead, you know now~), but everyone should GO ALL OUT (by which I mean TACKLE) that. Too lazy to play it for myself, it's probably going to give me a headache, so watching this run was amazing enough for me.

I need to stop using parentheses. Sorry about that.

So, what is real life, and is it edible? OH WAIT, SCHOOL. Yeah, I need to get back on that, but all the courses offered this semester look like they're going to take a lot of effort and I don't know what's that.

I need better hobbies. Ones that won't cause people to look at me weirdly. Any suggestions?

What do people do when someone keeps pimping Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne like it's the hottest thing ever? I try to politely nod and listen to the song at least once, but he seems to take this as a sign that I like the songs. Oops. And I said I liked metal (once upon a time) and the reply was 'me too, I like Linkin Park!'...uh. I find that very hard to reply to.

I JUST FINISHED AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. IN THREE DAYS. ALL 61 EPISODES PLUS CHIBI.

...It's got a solid storyline? I'm not in super!fangirl mode like I get sometimes, but it's making me think a lot. One thing I can't over is the title -- the last airbender. No matter how much the characters might be enjoying themselves or how hopeful the ending is, the title's always there to remind me that there's just something extremely tragic about the story.

It's horrifying seeing the empty air temples, knowing that they'll never be filled again. Minor deaths are just scraps in the grand scheme, but an entire culture was destroyed. Aang's entire culture is gone. It's not even real and yet just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

It's funny how the only episode I actually cried is centered around Appa (a huge furry flying animal) though.

On the most parts, it's just an adventure story with a somewhat predictable plot. But it's also been a while since I've seen any decent adventure story that hasn't disappointed me at some point. It's all I could have wanted out of a good cartoon -- a sturdy story that makes me think even with the childish naivety that in turn gives me hope in humankind.

It also doesn't hurt that Aang is the most charming main character I've seen since...um, Yoh from Shaman King, I guess. I have such a huge thing for wise kids. :D My only complaint is that I wanted to see more of Aang (and his air-bending/glider DDD:) in the third season, but I suppose it would feel wrong to take away the other characters' chances to grow some depth. And Zoku's redemption is amusing on its own merits, though it's a plot I've already seen too often.

I think I need a few more days to take it all in. I'm still not sure what to think because I usually let a brainless fangirl squee lead me in fandoms, but it really figures that it's a cartoon that's making me over-thinking everything.

edit: great. I've already lost sleep over this (61 episodes in 3 days...yeah), and now I can't sleep because I'm thinking about it. and it's four in the morning. splendid.

I sort of just realized that Yasu does kind of look like Koichi. I mean, I probably should realized this earlier considering how often Tsuyoshi retells that story about someone mistaking Yasu for Koichi, but I always sort of blamed it on the fact that Yasu was with Tsuyoshi. Except now that Koichi's releasing a new album and has a lot more new stuff out, I'm watching both of them at the same time and wow, they actually look kinda alike. Their side profiles, I think. Mostly the nose and cheekbones? And the mouth and possibly even the eyes?

I can't be the only person who sees the similarity. And Yasu kind of has Tsuyoshi's artistic style. Except more colorful and cheery, with a little more guitar/rock and less melancholy. Wait a minute, WHOA. YASU'S TOTALLY LIKE THE BASTARD CHILD OF KINKI KIDS. How could I possibly not have fallen for this guy?

...I'm in a phase in which I hate my lack of English skills. Mostly grammar, but other stuff as well. Like lack of words to describe action scenes. And I just...you know how some people really like Chinese because they think the characters are beautiful? THAT'S KIND OF LIKE MY RELATIONSHIP WITH ENGLISH. I actually do like the language. Reading in English gives me a sense of continuity Chinese doesn't. So, for this reason, I keep trying to write in English. Fanfics, that is. And just, I'm not all that good at it, why not give up already? But it's so hard when the story's already in my mind. Doesn't help that the Chinese fandom is basically full of crap.

Yasu's birthday. I wrote something for it, but it turned out to be rather dark cause it's a Hunger Games AU. Yeah...dunno why that's the first thing that comes to my mind when I try celebrating. Must be the date D:

And ah, Prologue of Patch. Rightfully confusing yet exciting. I don't even mind if nothing comes out of it. But anyway, everyone being badass gangsters? Pretty cool. Stealing and fighting and smoking and guns, all awesome stuff. But my favorite has got to be Yasu's smile. SMILING THROUGH ALL THIS SHIT, THAT'S YASU ALRIGHT.

The ten to twenty minute drive distance is barely a distance to some people, even in a city as this one. But I've lived here for nineteen years -- this is home. That place is what will be home, later, but not now. Not for quite a while yet.

I just realized. My favorite non-human characters - Stitch (Lilo and Stitch) and Toothless (How to Train Your Dragon) - are a lot alike. Storyline's different (unless you count the finding of an unexpected pet and acceptation of family and fantasy setting), but LOOK AT THE WAY THEY EXPRESS THEMSELVES. Somewhat violent, but oh-so-lovable.

AND THAT MOUTH. AND EARS. Toothless has many adorable attributes, including its feline movements, wings, and clumsy imitations of Hiccup, but what got to me was that toothless grin (not the one it failed at when copying Hiccup's smile). And Stitch...is blue, has large eyes, and is fluffy ("I like fluffy!"). But they both have that wide-mouth look and just...asglk'sl;k I LOVE IT. I don't know why! And dear god those ears. No need for an explanation there.

Lilo and Stitch is the very first DVD I bought myself (and I only have a total collection of two, the other being PoTC:CotBP). I don't have blu-ray, but it doesn't seem wise to collect it in any form less. This is also the first movie I LOVED in 3D (the others were like, oh it's kinda pop-up what's the point?), especially the flight sequences.

SO. CUTE.

I love shipping, don't like romantic movies, and love human-other relationships. Go figure.

Yeah, just wanted to get that off my chest. The situation is sort of like this - 'cause this important guy from China came as a guest, the government requested that all flags are to be hidden. Yes, flags of our own goddamn country, which unless you've forgotten Mr.President, you're president of. A flag that, hell, some people don't even acknowledge anyway since it's got your political party sign on it (with different ratios between the width and the height; now tell me how it's different). The only reason why I wasn't carrying a flag that day was because unfortunately, I'm one of those that don't acknowledge that flag. Also, a record store was playing the national anthem, and cops went in to stop the music. Erm. That song, the one that was also from your political party long long ago, sir.

In sum? While reading about how America is getting used to their new president and awaiting changes, we're trying to figure out how much worse things are going to get here.
