And oh god, I hate how all anime fandom focuses on is what's more 'moe' these days. People complain about the lack of plot, but when there finally is plot, all people want to discuss is what's cuter/more 'moe'. And artists drop old characters all the time because when newer ones come out, people are like omg that's cute we want more of her, old characters can die and I see comments like who cares where's [insert new character], except I care and it makes me feel like an idiot. Maybe I'm just bitter :(

Also, I don't know what to think when the main character's ten. I, uh. Huh. That's cute?

Sort of accidentally promised someone *side-eyes* that I would do this, so here's one of those lists of things to do in life to cross off. I couldn't understand a lot of these though. Also, I don't know if it's because I don't understand grammar, but I sense a sort of inconsistency here that's kind of jarring.

I finally slept in a bed last night! My sleeping schedule was completely insane for two nights. I've been getting seven hours of sleep a day, all from sleeping at my desk. My routine was to get two hours of work down, nap for an hour on my desk, then wake up for another two hours before napping on my desk again. This continued for two days. At one point I don't think I even knew if I'm awake anymore. I didn't know it was possible to miss sleeping in a bed so much until now.

But! I am now refreshed! And more importantly, I survived!

What do people do when someone keeps pimping Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne like it's the hottest thing ever? I try to politely nod and listen to the song at least once, but he seems to take this as a sign that I like the songs. Oops. And I said I liked metal (once upon a time) and the reply was 'me too, I like Linkin Park!'...uh. I find that very hard to reply to.

Again, I am conflicted about [livejournal.com profile] je_otherworlds and [livejournal.com profile] k8_exchange! I already might possibly have one obligation, and truth be told I'm thinking about trying to get into graduate school so I'm crazily busy right now. But that's my favorite genre and my favorite group! My love for AUs is possibly unhealthy. And last year I wasn't a fan of Eito yet, so I didn't have the chance to participate. I might not have the time to write either, but the crazy part of me wants to pick at least one. And I CAN'T. I JUST FINISHED AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. IN THREE DAYS. ALL 61 EPISODES PLUS CHIBI.

...It's got a solid storyline? I'm not in super!fangirl mode like I get sometimes, but it's making me think a lot. One thing I can't over is the title -- the last airbender. No matter how much the characters might be enjoying themselves or how hopeful the ending is, the title's always there to remind me that there's just something extremely tragic about the story.

It's horrifying seeing the empty air temples, knowing that they'll never be filled again. Minor deaths are just scraps in the grand scheme, but an entire culture was destroyed. Aang's entire culture is gone. It's not even real and yet just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

It's funny how the only episode I actually cried is centered around Appa (a huge furry flying animal) though.

On the most parts, it's just an adventure story with a somewhat predictable plot. But it's also been a while since I've seen any decent adventure story that hasn't disappointed me at some point. It's all I could have wanted out of a good cartoon -- a sturdy story that makes me think even with the childish naivety that in turn gives me hope in humankind.

It also doesn't hurt that Aang is the most charming main character I've seen since...um, Yoh from Shaman King, I guess. I have such a huge thing for wise kids. :D My only complaint is that I wanted to see more of Aang (and his air-bending/glider DDD:) in the third season, but I suppose it would feel wrong to take away the other characters' chances to grow some depth. And Zoku's redemption is amusing on its own merits, though it's a plot I've already seen too often.

I think I need a few more days to take it all in. I'm still not sure what to think because I usually let a brainless fangirl squee lead me in fandoms, but it really figures that it's a cartoon that's making me over-thinking everything.

edit: great. I've already lost sleep over this (61 episodes in 3 days...yeah), and now I can't sleep because I'm thinking about it. and it's four in the morning. splendid.

Kondou Masahiko, Shounentai, Hikaru Genji and others excluded because they debuted before I was born. Although some of their songs are really classics that people should try out.

After writing, I realized that instead of writing my personal experience with Johnnys, I wrote down my thoughts on Johnnys' history. I deleted a SPN icon to make room for my new anime icon. Because, let's face it - I'm still more of an anime fan than a television show fan. I still love Supernatural, I think it's a great show with a great cast, but honestly. It just ain't that great. In fact, I think the fans are sometimes more talented. There's way more high quality fan-fiction found in the SPN fandom than in any anime fandoms, and yeah, everything's quite awesome.

I just don't understand WHY people can rewatch those episodes for more than ten times and not be bored to death. The most I've watched an episode is twice, with the occasional rewinding on various scenes. I understand that the crew's on a tight schedule, but I still find more plot holes than I care to count. And there's the fans that are constantly ranting 'omg they're so hot!!!' when it comes to the actors. Yeah, they're pretty good-looking, but I've really had enough of it. Especially J.A. - I understand that you find him hot; I kinda don't, okay? I think he looks kind of stuffed. And J.P. looks really really weird at certain angles.

Also, the Dean fans. Are freakin' frightening. Dean is not superman. He does not have superhuman powers. From what I can see, he's not even that great a hunter, or they wouldn't get hurt every single episode (I know, plot device, whatever). He is also not the most bestest brother in the whole wide world and the most kindest nicest omg super-duper greatest person in on Earth. URGH.

And even IF Dean died at the end of the season or Sam died again or they both went to hell, I can't bring myself to cry for them. Aside from the fact that they're not even real, even if they were they're only two more people on the planet. I like how they occasionally get emotional and I love the warm brother scenes, but I still prefer to view the series as an action one. They're NOT REAL. Stop treating them like they are. Unless you're the type to cry everytime the news mentions another death, which then, good luck on keeping your eyesight.

I like how anime is completely, utterly NOT REAL and everyone (well, mostly) KNOWS IT. It makes me feel more for those characters because in their world, it's usually worst than anything possible in our world and yeah, I'm INHUMAN.

I dream. Usually around once a week, I wake up remembering a dream with clarity. But yeah, these past two days, I'm totally suffering from the flu and drop dead asleep in between every single class I have. During those ten minutes, I manage to fall dead asleep and dream, and so far I've managed to remember about six of them. In two days.

They range from about everything. From my usual deal of flying (I've dreamed so much of this it's not even funny anymore) to, well, total and utter fandomness including dreaming of myself as the characters or dreaming of meeting the characters in person. After reading a greek!myth-fied Wincest (which is totally amazing in every way), I dreamed
Dean cutting his own wings off. In the way Sam was described to dream.
There's also something about me pulling a necklace off someone's neck while being turned into cardboard boxes.

I should probably stop watching television or something. All those images are, like, consuming my brain and eating it away. Even if I don't really watch television at all; it's all on my dear computer. Or, I don't know, I should probably actually get a good night's sleep. I've been working on less than five hours of sleep a day for, hmmm, about two months? And being sick doesn't help.
